Refining advanced technology through diversification
Starting with a high-end tape deck, the electronics department began development and production of products in 1972. We have found a way to play an active role in a variety of other industries by developing PLEXTOR brand products such as BGM players, optical disc drives, CD players for trial listening, off-set printers, and data loggers with wave-synchronous high-speed cameras. PLEXTOR is a coined word that connects PLEX, which means “weave” or “knit” in Latin, with the TOR in the word motor. While the PLEXTOR brand was spreading to the world, we were gathering new technology such as electronic circuits, software, sensors, and information processors. As a result, it broadened the scope of technical proposals.
